A couple of hours ago, photos and videos of clergymen and women attending the event of the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the general elections went viral on social media.
There were claims by some social media users that the men and women were hired and given the clergy attire to wear and pose as clergymen and women.
While reacting to the criticisms by social media users, the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Director, Media and Communication of the Tinubu Campaign Organization TCO, Bayo Onanuga said that the event was open to all members of the public including clergymen and women.
Bayo was quoted as saying that, “the event was an open affair, which allowed members of the public to attend, including the clergymen and some others now being derided by hirelings of the opposition”.
He added that the clergymen are not yam sellers or mechanics as postulated by social media users. He said that the clergymen are not yet big names as they are still growing in Christendom.
