UK-based Nigerian educationist, Dipo Awojide popularly known as Ogbeni Dipo has taken to Twitter to advocate for outstanding students to be handsomely rewarded like Big Brother Naija winners usually are.
He made a comparison using the current edition of BBNaija, saying that if the winner would get N90 million, then there’s no reason for best graduating students to be rewarded with N5k or N10k o handshake.
Winner of Big Brother Naija season 6 stands to win a whopping N90m grand prize at the end of the 72-day reality TV show.
He wrote; “If a #BBNajia winner can get N9OM in cash price there is no reason why best graduating students across our prestigious federal and state universities should be getting N5K, N1OK or a useless handshake. We must do better. Academic excellence should be celebrated!
I am trying to save all of us the embarrassment of begging other countries. I am advocating for ways for us to become a true African giant.
I am not criticizing entertainment. Enjoy but don’t lose focus ☺️🤷🏽♂️
Until we prioritize the education sector and invest in our youth, it is likely we will continue begging for ‘ventilators and vaccines’ from countries that see education and research as priorities.”
I've been a freelance web developer and blogger for a while now and have a passion for both. Like most men, I'm a football lover; I prefer playing to watching matches.Personally, I believe with dedication there's no limit to what we can achieve. Yes, we all have the power and ability to do that.
Evicted housemate of the BBNaija Level Up show, Allysyn Audu, gives clarification about what she shared with Hermes and Adekunle.
It would be recalled that the model and car sales executive once had a romantic relationship in the house with Hermes who already had two girlfriends.
During an interview with Saturday Beats, Allysyn who was once uncertain about being the third girlfriend of a fellow housemate reaches a conclusion.
“Knowing Hermes had two girlfriends, I respected his dynamic (circumstance) while in the house. However, upon coming out of the house now, I know that I don’t want to be a part of that dynamic (situation) but I have a genuine connection with him. I want to focus on myself.
“Hermes has a beautiful, intense, and dramatic personality. I always go for people that are very different. He even physically stands out with his tattoos and piercings. We are both creative people. He is very talented and I know we are going to be great friends for a very long time.”
On her relationship with Adekunle, Doyin, and Daniella, she said, “All I had with Adekunle was just friendship, and I later got into a romantic relationship with Hermes. Adekunle did not really express any reservations about me spending more time with Hermes than him. He only jokingly complained once and I apologized to him.
“Daniella and me were roommates before we went into the house. So, our bonding was easy and smooth. Doyin and me are very different but we were able to connect fast from the first day.”
Allysyn further spoke on why she keeps her hair bald, she said, “It was during the (COVID-19) lockdown in 2020 when I was bored, I just went out to get it (cut my hair). I loved it when I looked at myself in the mirror. That made me realize that I had made the right decision. I don’t think my hair made me stand out during the show. I think my personality did.”
On what areas she intends to explore going forward, Allysyn said, “Before I went into the house, I used to work with a car company as a sales and marketing executive. During the weekend, I did modeling, and I had a YouTube channel as well. I am open to modeling, and I want to rebrand my lip gloss business. Also, I am open to other opportunities, and I’m ready to become the best version of myself.”
