TalkSPORT reported on Tuesday that Arsenal were yet to make a move for Youri Tielemans in part due to concerns over his physicality.

But Fabrizio Romano claims there’s no suggestion Arsenal’s hesitance is due to such an issue. The Gunners remain in contact with Tielemans, it’s just that the current priority in that position is outgoings.

Romano still expects Tielemans to leave before the end of the summer window, with the player now in the final year of his contract.

The talkSPORT claims don’t really fit with other recent reports on Tielemans.

The Telegraph recently claimed Mikel Arteta was a fan of the midfielder and driving a move, and The Athletic also suggested Arsenal had an admiration for Tielemans as a player.

James Benge previously wrote that Arsenal and Leicester City were only around £5m apart in their valuations of Tielemans.

So it doesn’t seem to be that Arsenal don’t rate Tielemans as a player, or that they have serious concerns about his profile. He’s just not a priority signing until the Gunners can make some midfield sales.

The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal have shelved plans to sign Tielemans until players leave, which makes sense.

Arteta and Edu have brought in five players already, yet there have been no major outgoings – other than perhaps the permanent sale of Matteo Guendouzi to Marseille for around £10m.

Until the likes of Lucas Torreira, Pablo Mari, and Bernd Leno complete their expected moves elsewhere, Arsenal probably aren’t in a position to keep adding players to the squad.
