Olawuyi was paraded with other suspects including suspected kidnappers and car snatchers at the police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Thursday.

When interviewed, Olawuyi confessed to the crime but said he had only slept with two male pupils. The last victim, he said, is 12 years old.

The teacher, who holds Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE), said the age of his victims ranges between 12 and 13 years.

The Ogbomoso-born teacher said the first incident happened at the premises of his former school while he invited the latest victim to his home to help collate examination scripts.

He said: ”It was just two times I did it. They are my students. I had sex through the anus with one of two of my students on different occasions. I don’t have a wife. I am a private primary school teacher. I called the last victim to my house to help me collate scripts”.

He said he was used to watching pornography but regretted committing the offense.

The BoT’s meeting today is coming a few days after five of the PDP Governors, including Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Gabriel Ortom of Benue, Ayo Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikpazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwanyi of Enugu states met in Enugu to discuss on the issues affecting the party.

Wike has insisted that to create a balance in the party’s leadership structure, a southerner must take over as national chairman of the party.

The peace talk is being intensified by the Board of Trustees even as presidential campaigns kicked off last week, September 28, according to the guideline of the independent national electoral commission, INEC.

Addressing a large crowd of workers at the Alausa office of the Head of Service in Ikeja, the governor stated that the ‘surprise’ announcement was coming at a time that the country and more importantly Lagos was preparing for the 2023 general election.

He added that Lagos was “capable” of paying workers high salaries, stressing that the state would continue to lead by example.

“In salary increments, we are leading again. We are going to reflect the popular ‘Buga’ slogan in the payment of salaries. We are not going to wait for the federal government’s minimum wage increase.

“We have commenced the process. I can assure that by early next year it will be ready for implementation,” the Lagos governor added, noting that, “We don’t want to wait for workers’ unions to hold us to ransom before we do the needful.”

He revealed that the state was clearing the entire backlog of pensions as they were liabilities met on the ground by his administration when it took over power.

INEC removes Adebutu as Ogun PDP governorship candidate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed Oladipupo Adebutu from its list of candidates in the 2023 Ogun governorship election.

The entry for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was vacant in the form sighted by Peoples Gazette on Tuesday.

INEC’s decision was in line with the ruling of Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, which nullified the primary election of PDP held in May.

The ruling nullified the candidacy of Mr Adebutu, who had to recontest the ticket. Delivered on September 30, the ruling barred INEC from recognising Mr Adebutu as PDP’s candidate and instructed the party to conduct another primary election within 14 days.

The suit was filed by displeased members of the party, Jim Lawal, Taiwo Olabode and Kehinde Akala. The trio accused the party of imposing a fake list of delegates at the venue of the primary election and also intimidating party members with the military.

“They brought in soldiers to militarise the venue and used a fake list of delegates to achieve their aim. We had to go to court to upturn the malpractice,” Mr Lawal said.

The PDP is yet to announce dates for the rerun of the primary election.
