In a comfortable 3-0 Premier League (PL) victory over Fulham, Arsenal marked Mikel Arteta’s 100th win as Gunners boss, with Leandro Trossard providing three assists in the first half.
After Fulham’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford and Arsenal’s 2-2 draw in Lisbon on Thursday, both teams had a cautious start to the match, with little action in the early stages.
However, the Gunners soon took control and looked to extend their 100% winning record in away London derbies this season. Despite Antonee Robinson turning Gabriel Martinelli’s low cross into the net, VAR disallowed the goal for offside, giving Arsenal the momentum they needed.
Gabriel Magalhães then powerfully headed in Trossard’s corner, doubling Arsenal’s lead after Trossard’s cross was headed in from close range by Martinelli. Martin Ødegaard scored the third goal of the match just before halftime, controlling Trossard’s pass onto his left foot and curling the ball into the bottom corner. Fulham struggled to respond, with Aleksandar Mitrović’s header hitting the crossbar as their only real chance to get back into the game.
Fulham’s lackluster performance highlighted their three-match winless streak, leaving them in danger of dropping out of the hunt for European football next season. Arsenal, on the other hand, put in a thoroughly professional performance, with Trossard’s creativity and the defense’s solid performance contributing to their ninth away clean sheet and 11th away victory of the season.
