- Buhari approves board of Federal Mortgage Bank reconstitution

President Muhammadu Buhari has authorized the reorganization of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria’s Board of Directors.
The permission is intended to reposition the bank as a core banking institution with core competency in mortgage finance, according to the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. READ FULL
- EFCC denies arresting former governor Obiano’s wife, Ebere
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC), has denied arresting Eberechukwu Obiano, the immediate past First Lady of Anambra State.
The wife of former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano is not in the EFCC’s custody, according to the agency.
- 2023 Elections: Gunmen kill INEC staff in Imo community attack
On Thursday, 12 gunmen attacked some Adhoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nkwo Ihitte market in Imo State, causing chaos.
The gunmen attacked while INEC Adhoc Staff were enrolling people of the community for the 2023 general elections.
Unknown gunmen shot the INEC officer in charge of the registration procedure.
- National Assembly approves N4 trillion for Petrol subsidy
The Senate and House of Representatives have passed amendments to the 2022 Appropriation Act that will increase the Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) subsidy from N3.557 trillion to N4 trillion.
Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s request, the two chambers of the National Assembly discussed and accepted reports on the amendment bills in the plenary on Thursday.
However, they authorized a new $73 per barrel oil price benchmark, a new oil production volume of 1.600 million barrels per day, and an N4 trillion PMS subsidy.
- Nigeria to conduct National Population Census on April 2023
Nigeria’s Population and Housing Census is scheduled for April 2023.
Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), made the announcement after President Muhammadu Buhari presided over a Council of State meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
- IGP Baba approves Promotion of 21,039 Junior Police Officers Last Promoted In 2017
Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has approved the promotion of 21,039 junior police officers who were last promoted in 2017 or before.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Acting Force Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Thursday that the approval for their promotion was given on Wednesday, April 13th.
A breakdown of those promoted shows that 20,572 Sergeants were promoted to Inspector, 324 Corporals were promoted to Sergeants, and 143 Constables were promoted to Corporal.
- US accuses Nigeria Security agencies of corruption
The United States administration has accused several Nigerian security organizations, including the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS), of acting with impunity as a result of corruption and a weak judiciary.
The US administration claims to have proof of serious human rights violations by security officials, including arbitrary murders and the wrongful detention of civilians in severe jail circumstances.
The administration was also accused of imposing severe limitations on free expression and the media, including assault and intimidation against journalists.
