Chief Mrs. Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, wife of late Nigerian Head of State, Major General J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi, is dead.

The late Nigerian Head of State’s wife, died on Monday morning at the age of 97, according to reports.

She was born on November 21, 1923, and married the late Nigerian leader while still a student at Holy Rosary Convent School in Okigwe in 1953, when she was 16 years old.

Former Commissioner of the Local Government Services Commission in Abia State, the late first lady was also a former first lady. Remember that on July 29, 1966, after a counter-coup in Ibadan, Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi, the Supreme Commander of the National Military Government for six months, was overthrown and killed.
