Yaya Sanogo has not had a home since he left Huddersfield at the end of the 20/21 season.

Nine appearances without a goal or assist was, clearly, not enough to convince them that they should offer the forward a lengthier deal.

The six months he spent with Huddersfield also came after an eight-month spell without a club after being released by Toulouse.

Before signing for Huddersfield, Sanogo was expected to sign for Middlesbrough, and even spent two weeks in quarantine ahead of the move, only to fail his medical.

Now, it is claimed that the former Arsenal forward, is in advanced talks with Moroccan side, Raja Club Athletic, regarding a two-year deal that has already been put on the table.

Known as the ‘Green Eagles’, Raja CA were founded in 1949 and currently play in the top flight of Moroccan football where they finished second last season.

Their most valuable player is Mohamed Zrida, a defensive midfielder valued at around £1.66m, which is almost four times Sanogo’s current £450,000 valuation.

In an interview with La Depeche at the start of the year, Sanogo was asked why he had been without a club for so long.

“Covid happened,” he said.

“I haven’t seen the list but there’s a lot players in this situation. Clubs have less money so they’re a bit more reticent – especially mid-season.

“I had contacts with certain clubs. Some didn’t interest me, others were thinking about it but didn’t follow up. It’s become very hard. I’ve a few contacts but they need to go somewhere.

“I’m ready since I’m training with Toulouse but I now need for someone to give me a chance.”

In total, across his career, Sanogo has 36 goals, and nine assists, from 157 appearances.
