Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 45-year-old man, Aloko Emmanuel who has been impersonating a police officer in Lagos state.

This was disclosed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on his verified Twitter on Thursday.

According to the Lagos PPRO, Emmanuel has been operating as a fake cop in the state for two years until he was nabbed today by the police officers attached to the Alausa Division.

The Police spokesperson also said the assailant would be charged to court with immediate effect.

“45-year-old Aloko Emmanuel has been impersonating as a police officer for two years. He was arrested today by vigilant officers of (the) Alausa Division. He will be arraigned immediately,” Hundeyin tweeted.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has begun the National Integrated Labour and Factory Inspection in Akwa Ibom state.

It also expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance to Labour Laws and Acts as well as global expectations by industries and organisations in the state.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Daju Kachellom, spoke with newsmen in Uyo, on Monday after leading a delegation of the officials of the ministry on an inspection visit to Savanna Energy limited and Champion Breweries in Uyo, the State capital.

She explained that the visit was not an investigation into the affairs of the organisations, but to ensure compliance with labour laws.

“We are here actually to flag-off the National Integrated labour and factory Inspection, to ensure that factories and industries comply with labour laws of the country as well as with global expectations,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary added, ” We have interfaced with the management, and we are quite happy with what we have seen; their compliance with certain Labour Acts.

“The Union is happy with them as well and we want to tell other factories and organisations in Akwa Ibom that we are here not on the investigation; it is just to ensure that the laws which are applicable to all industries have been carried out and abhere to and ensure that decent workplace for employees is guaranteed”

“As you know, we are Labour and Employment, so we are actually very concerned about the welfare of the staff as well as the organisations.

“If they are in tune with national standards in terms of occupational safety as well as ensure that the social contract between the organizations and the people is well understood and guaranteed.”

The director, the inspectorate unit of the ministry, Mr. Ajuwon Dauda Adeniyi, said that though the ministry apply sanctions where necessary, the essence of the inspection, he said, is to “point out areas where compliance level is low and tell the organizations what is expected of them.”

The delegation was conducted around the various units and departments of Champion Breweries Limited and Savannah Energy limited in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

Emerging reports suggest that a Police Inspector identified as Idris Musa has been killed by bandits at Makera quarters, Kwakware Community along Katsina-Jibia Road.

An eyewitness (name withheld) told newsmen that the gunmen arrived the community on Monday at about 7:00 am shooting sporadically while chasing a bus conveying some passengers.

According to the source, the efforts made by the deceased Police Inspector to repel the terror group proved abortive, even as they returned fire on the police, leading to the death of the officer.

After shooting him dead, the bandits are said to have burnt the Inspector’s vehicle after which they abducted an unspecified number of passengers, whisking them away to a location yet to be determined.

Authorities of the police force in Katsina State are yet to release an official statement on the incident, when reached for comments, police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah said he was at a briefing and will address the press within the hour.

Bandits atracked farmers in different communities in Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna State, killing 3.

The hoodlums also kidnapped 22 locals and snatched their motorcycles.

Ishaq Usman Kasai, Chairman of Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU) told journalists on Monday that on Saturday 24th September, 2022 around 7:30pm, the a bandits invaded Hayin Gada of Damari Community in Kazage Ward, killed 2 locals namely; Sanusi Zubairu and Kabiru Zubairu.

He said the bandits kidnapped 12 persons and looted shops in the same community during the attack.

“On same Saturday, another group of bandits killed 1 and kidnapped 6 persons at FARM CENTER near Birnin-Gwari/Kaduna Road. The bandits also kidnapped 4 others at Dajin JANGALI and seized 3 motorcycles (Bajaj Model) from farmers at Kamfanin Doka area.”

“BEPU observes with serious concern the way the armed bandits continue to invade various communities and loot goods at shops unchallenged.”

“The Union will never relent in it’s continuous call on relevant authorities to intensify effort towards combating terrorist activities in Birnin-Gwari LGA especially at this early crop harvesting period,” he said.
