#CL: 5 goals, 4 injured during Bayern Munich – PSG match

Published

on

The Champions League quarter-finals continued with two more first legs on Wednesday night. Porto at home welcomed Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain went to Germany to play Bayern Munich, Naija News 247 News Reports.

Bayern Munich versus Paris Saint-Germain was a mouth-watering clash, a tough match indeed, with happy ending for the Parisian 2-3. The total of 5 goals occurred during the clash, but surprisingly 4 were injured.

⚽️ A crazy scenario

The first period was crazy with 3 goals and 4 injuries. PSG quickly led 0-2 thanks to Mbappé and Marquinhos but Choupo-Moting cheated Navas to give hope to the Bavarians before the break.

Barnsley named Daryl Dike as Player of the Month again

Upon returning from the locker room, the diminished Parisians (without Diallo and Marquinhos) suffered against a determined Bayern and Müller logically equalized.

Despite everything, PSG could count on the talent of Mbappé, author of a last superb goal. 2-3, PSG take a good option but it will be necessary to be serious on the return.

👍 Magic Mbappé and Neymar 👎

Neuer at fault

A hat-trick at Camp Nou, a double at the Allianz Arena, seems Mbappé is enjoying himself in the Champions League.

Neymar has also responded well after criticism of the past few days. The Brazilian offered two exceptional assists in the first half.

Opposite, Neuer made a big mistake in opening the scoring. Parisian side, Dagba also suffered on his side.

📈 Premiere for Flick

The German had never lost in the Champions League as a Bayern coach. After 15 wins and 1 draw, he has therefore just fallen for the first time in the Champions League. This shows the importance of the feat achieved by PSG.

CAF officially strips Guinea of AFCON 2025 hosting rights

Confederation of African Football (CAF)

Guinea has been formally stripped of the rights to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Saturday.

This development, which has been under much speculation for some weeks, means a fresh bidding for the tournament’s hosting rights is set to be reopened on Saturday.

The rights withdrawal followed a meeting on Friday in Conakry between Guinea’s interim president, Col. Mamady Doumbouya, and CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Barnsley named Daryl Dike as Player of the Month again

The meeting had discussed the withdrawal after the west African country, among the poorest of the continent, formally said it was not ready to host the 24-nation tournament.

Guinea’s inability was due to its infrastructure and facilities not being ready to host a world-class AFCON competition.

Motsepe was accompanied during his meeting with the Guinean leader by CAF General Secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba.

The development is expected to ginger Guinea into working towards bidding with other competing nations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The 2022 edition of CHAN is being hosted by Algeria in 2023.

The CAF Executive Committee will be meeting on Saturday in Algiers, Algeria and will take a decision to re-open the bidding process for the 2025 AFCON.

The 2023 AFCON is already scheduled to be held in Côte d’Ivoire.

Ibrahim Gusau elected new NFF president

Ibrahim Musa Gusau has been elected as the new President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at the 79th Annual General Assembly and Elective Congress that took place in Benin, Edo state.

Gasau replaced Amaju Pinnick whose chapter as the NFF president came to an end after eight years at the helm of affairs of Nigeria football.

Pinnick led board of the NFF was officially dissolved at the congress today to usher in a new administration to take charge of Nigeria football.

Gasau was unable to secure 21 per cent of the 44 votes that were counted as required by NFF statutes. The election then went into a rerun.

While other contestants including Seyi Akinwumi, Shehu Dikko stepped down from the election, former Nigeria international Peterside Idah refused to give in after consultation by Amaju Pinnick.

Gasau however won the rerun election with a landslide victory. He secured 39 votes out of the 41 that were counted, Idah got one while one was invalid.

Gusau is currently chairman of the Zamfara Football Association. He is also a CAF committee member and currently sits on the NFF board as the chairman of all states’ FA chairmen.

There was uncertainty prior to the election after an Abuja Federal High Court order initially stopped the election from being conducted. But 24 hours to the election, an Appeal Court in Abuja ordered the stay of execution of the lower court injunction.

The elective congress was witnessed by CAF and FIFA officials.
