Asari Dokubo: Why I Am On Wheelchair

Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant, has finally reacted to his viral photo in which he was seen using a wheelchair.

Naija News 247 recalls that yesterday the former freedom fighter posted a picture of himself in a wheelchair. Nigerians’ reactions to the picture were divided, and some have already speculated that the man may have a chronic ailment.

Regarding the image posted on his Facebook page, Asari stated that there is no reason to be concerned. He claimed that he used the wheelchair so that he could fulfil his religious obligations in Mecca.

He claimed that while performing the hajj, one is required to complete several demanding duties.

“If you go to hajj, there are certain rights you can not perform especially if you are sick. You can choose to pay somebody to perform it on your behalf. I don’t want to pay anybody. I decided to use wheelchair to perform the right. There are rights like running in the hill seven time which is long distance. Most people can’t do it. I used to see people do it when I was much younger so I decided use the wheelchair and it was fun.” he stated.
