Fabrizio Romano reports that Bernd Leno is having his medical tests with Fulham today, before signing his contract to join on an £8m deal. The goalkeeper’s new deal will last to 2025, with an option for a further year.

David Ornstein previously reported that Fulham had reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Leno for around £8m.

Personal terms between Leno and Fulham were already in place before that, with Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reporting weeks ago that Leno had verbally agreed terms on a three-plus-one-year deal.

Arsenal obviously have Aaron Ramsdale as their first-choice goalkeeper, and they’ve added Matt Turner to the ranks this summer.

The Gunners also have a number of youth goalkeepers available this season, including the highly-rated Karl Hein.

Arsenal have seemingly been waiting for an agreement to sell Leno to Fulham for a while now.

German outlet Bild claimed Arsenal’s decision not to name Leno in their squad to face FC Nurnberg was because they didn’t want to risk an injury jeopardising the goalkeeper’s transfer.

The goalkeeper then sat out for further games against Everton, Orlando City, Chelsea, Brentford, and Sevilla, despite taking part in training.

Finally, with the season just days away, it looks like the transfer is going through.

Leno wants the Fulham move to try and get regular football ahead of the World Cup, with the newly-promoted side able to offer him a starting role.
