APC is where you're destined to be, Gbajabiamila tells Wike

Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, says All Progressives Congress (APC) is expecting Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, to join the party.

Gbajabiamila made this known on Friday when he inaugurated the official quarters for members of the house of assembly in Rivers.

Wike had invited Gbajabiamila to unveil the legislative quarters built by his administration.

Wike earlier in his address at the event disclosed that he and other high-ranking PDP members worked to ensure that Gbajabiamila didn’t emerge as the speaker of the lower legislative chamber but those with whom he orchestrated the plan betrayed him.

In recent days, the governor, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has played host to APC members, mostly loyalists of the ruling party presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, inviting them to inaugurate projects in the state.

Jonathan's candidature will bring calm to south-east, says Southern group

Gbajabiamila said he had to cut short his vacation in the US to attend the unveiling of the quarters “because of who he (Wike) is and what he is to me”.

He added that he and members of the APC are eagerly expecting Wike to join the party.

“Let me start by thanking the governor, my friend and brother, that a confession that has been known to all forever that you plotted against me,” he said.

“It is the irony of life and indeed very interesting, the twist of fate, that those who he sat with to plot against me are the same people who sat together at your primary to plot against you.

“So, plotting is not necessarily a new thing in politics but what is constant is that in politics, there are no permanent enemies, there are no permanent friends, but what you have is permanent interest.

“And by God’s grace, this one that you have started, the journey that you have started that you and I both know, shall be permanent. Please choke them. I said choke them.

“I believe that when the governor finally chokes them, the members of the state assembly will be coming with him to where he is destined to be. We await you, your excellency, and very eagerly too.

2023: Kachikwu says ADC will beat APC, PDP, unveils plans on Tuesday

Dumebi Kachikwu, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot beat the party in the 2023 election.

Mr Kachikwu said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.

He said the two major parties stood no chance of winning as they have failed Nigerians.

“The country has continued to lag in all indices of development since 1999 when PDP assumed power after which it handed over to APC in 2015,” he said.

Mr Kachikwu said the indices of good governance anchored on the rule of law in Nigeria have remained negative since the return to civil rule in 1999.

Jonathan's candidature will bring calm to south-east, says Southern group

He said the two dominant parties gravely impoverished the country and made it the “poverty capital of the world.”

“Today, the inflation rate has rallied to a 17-year high of 20.5 per cent up from 8.06 per cent in 2014 before the APC took over the reins of power at the centre in 2015, notwithstanding the humongous debt the party has amassed for the country through reckless borrowing.

“This rate of inflation simply means that the average Nigerian cannot afford basic daily necessities like three square meals due to skyrocketing food prices and other essential services like healthcare and education for their children,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to reinvent the country by voting for ADC, saying that the party has the vision and the know-how to turn the fortunes of the country around.

The ADC presidential candidate urged Nigerians to vote wisely in 2023 to reclaim, revive and restore the positive destiny of Nigeria.

Mr Kachikwu said he would unveil his plans for the election on Tuesday.

Mr Kachikwu was purportedly expelled by a faction of the ADC led by Ralph Nwosu who had run the party for 17 years until he was removed by another group in the party which set up an interim leadership headed by Patricia Akwashiki, a former PDP senator.

2023: Tinubu's Political base has Completely Collapsed

Despite the expulsion, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published his name on the final list of presidential candidates on 20 September.
