The President of the Christ Apostolic Church, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has charged the Christians in the country to vote for a presidential candidate that would protect their interests.

Oladele gave this advice in his address at the annual 2022 Pastors Conference of the CAC, held at the camp of the church in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State on Wednesday. The four-day conference was themed, ‘ Grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.’

He charged, “Throughout the course of human history, God has always sought men and women to stand for Him in the place of leadership – like Joseph in Egypt, David before Goliath the Philistine, Esther in Shushan and Daniel in Babylon.

“The forthcoming general election is one that we must be interested in, as we cannot afford to remain complacent while that affect our faith are being made. We shall be guided by the criteria provided by the Christian Association of Nigeria for the election of our next set of political leaders in Nigeria.

” I urge you to vote for candidates who will protect the cause and interest of Christianity in Nigeria. I make bold to declare loud and clear that the interest of the kingdom of God and of His Christ is more important than all other interests. Hence, the interest of God’s kingdom must guide our consideration of who to vote for in the forthcoming general election in Nigeria.

Expressing concern about the present situation of the country, the cleric admonished Nigerians not to despair but to be more prayerful for better days to come and also to walk on the way of righteousness.

He said, “It is an undeniable fact that we are in dire strait as a nation. The continued decline of socio-economic infrastructures as well as the nonchalance of those who are entrusted to provide the desired solution to these problems, calls for concern.

“However, we are not without hope because we have a God who rules in the affairs of men. Let us continue to call upon Him while we play our roles as responsible citizens of Nigeria. Righteousness remains the panacea to the reproach of our nation, Nigeria. Let us not only preach it, but practice righteousness.”

He also warned the pastors of the church to desist from acts of insubordination and other forms of misconduct, declaring that any pastor caught in unethical acts would be sanctioned accordingly.

“Postings It is considered a vital part of our sacred duty to obey the Church Authority in matters of transfers/postings Hence, all forms of intrigues either to influence or resist postings/transfer are considered unrighteous. Specifically. any pastor/minister who refuses to go on transfer from one station to another and goes ahead to incite Church Elders Council/members to achieve the same shall be considered to have committed an act of gross insubordination and necessary disciplinary measures shall be applied.

“We have observed that some Pastors divert/misappropriate monies that they are supposed to remit to the Genera Secretariat, while some others suppress proceeds from our publication. Henceforth, such actions shall be treated as theft and those culpable shall be made to face appropriate disciplinary measures, including refund of such money suspension and possible demotion from their present position,” he declared

Metro News Happening In Nigeria Today

Mr Shehu Mohammed, the Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in charge of FCT and Niger, has said 80 per cent of Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across the thirty-six states including the FCT are caused by human error.

Mohammed said this in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said that human, mechanical and the environment which was natural were the leading causes of RTCs in the country.

He also said that illicit drug and alcohol abuse, poor vision and over-speeding were also among factors that causes road accidents in the nation.

According to Mohammed, the human error contributed to almost 80 per cent of RTCs because it is the human that normally control the mechanical.

“We as human, we contribute a lot of crashes on the roads, especially during the Ember months where many drivers try to double their efforts to meet up with the year’s demand.

“About 80 per cent of road crashes are caused by human errors because most of the crashes are avoidable and preventable, “he said.

According to him, for instance, a driver that will start driving from Kano coming through Abuja axis down to the south without a rest is definitely inviting a crash.

“You can imagine the kind of fatigue, and then he get tired and want to sleep, and again maybe the vehicle is already overloaded.

“This could cause pressure on the mechanical system of the vehicle which is also a factor contributing to RTCs, ” he said.

“So I think those are the things that normally contributed to this kind of increase in road traffic crashes especially at night, “he said.

Mohammed said that poor vehicle maintenance was also a human error adding that the driver or the owner of the vehicle were to maintain the vehicle regularly and periodically for good function of the vehicle.

He said: “but then, the environment, this is natural which is beyond human control.

“However, I think what is happening now at the raining season is what is causing the increase in the traffic crashes.

“You will agree with me that the low visibility during rain fall, the slippery road, and then people not been able to see far may likely contribute to some of the causes of the increase in the RTCs, ” he said.

The group had alleged that Ewhrudjakpo was working against the interest of the governor.

In a statement signed by its leader, Erepadei Ebiowei, the BPV said it had observed with dismay that most of the actions of Ewhrujakpor were unbecoming of a deputy governor.

The group alleged that the deputy governor was running a parallel administration within the government despite the latitude he enjoyed from the governor.

It also accused Ewhrujakpor of hobnobbing and meeting with aggrieved members within the ruling party and opposition party candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The group called on the leadership of the PDP in the state and at the national level to probe the deputy governor.
